March 8th is celebrated all over the world as International Women’s Day. Globally it ‘s a day when women are recognized for their achievements without regard to divisions, whether national, ethnic, linguistic, cultural, economic or political. International Women’s Day first emerged from the activities of labour movements at the turn of the twentieth century in North America and across Europe.

International Women’s Day has assumed a new global dimension for women in developed and developing countries alike. The growing international women’s movement, which has been strengthened by four global United Nations women’s conferences, has helped make the commemoration a rallying point to build support for women’s rights and participation in the political and economic arenas.

Now today we can see lot of protest all over the world by women to get their rights and privileges. But ultimately the financial independence is what a woman needs to achieve first to eradicate the gender inequality.

Today on this special day The Friday Mania would salute a real woman who has gone beyond her limits to fulfill her dreams for the country’s main dish and thereby achieving a respectful financial security at the age of 90. Leong Yuet Meng is a weak and 90 year old lady who runs a wonton noodle stall in Singapore ,selling around 200 bowls of noodles per day. Her day starts at 4 am and then she goes to the market with her son to buy her stuff for her stall .Her stall functions from 8 am to 5 pm . Can we ever imagine of doing something at this age? Her passion , her determination and her enthusiasm has made her a real woman with substance. This determination and passion for life is what women need today to overcome the atrocities against them. Of course this should be achieved on their own. Women is the strength of any family and if women are strong we can have a better society with positive thinking. A strong woman is the voice of a better generation.

Happy Women’s Day to all the brave and confident women around the world.
