Indian Railways’ first private train Lucknow –Delhi Tejas Express has reported a revenue of nearly ₹3.70 crore in October, reported PTI. With a host of new facilities, the Delhi-Lucknow Tejas Express becomes the first train in the country to be entirely run by Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC). According to PTI, IRCTC run Delhi-Lucknow Tejas Express has made a profit of ₹70 lakh in its inaugural month.
Started on October 5, Lucknow-Delhi Tejas Express is the fastest train running in between Delhi and Lucknow. IRCTC Lucknow-Delhi Tejas Express runs six days a week, except Tuesdays. The Tejas Express leaves Lucknow at 6.10 am and reaches New Delhi railway station at 12.25 pm. On its return journey, the train leaves Delhi at 3.35 pm and reaches Lucknow at 10.05 pm. Since its inauguration, IRCTC Lucknow-Delhi Tejas Express has run with an average occupancy of 80-85%, according to a PTI report.
With the Lucknow-Delhi Tejas Express, IRCTC has started a unique refund scheme. IRCTC will pay you if the train gets delayed. If the Lucknow-Delhi Tejas Express delays for over an hour, passengers will get a compensation of ₹100. For delay of two hours and more, the passengers will receive ₹250, IRCTC said.
IRCTC has recently paid a hefty amount of ₹ ₹1.62 lakh to passengers of newly launched Lucknow-Delhi Tejas Express for delays in arrival and departure. On October 19, the newly started Delhi-Lucknow Tejas Express was more than three hours late. For the first time, IRCTC is offering a free insurance of ₹25 lakh to the passengers travelling in Lucknow-Delhi Tejas Express. The insurance cover includes ₹1 lakh insurance against theft or robbery during the travel.
