World Sleep Day is an annual event, intended to be a celebration of sleep and a call to action on important issues related to sleep, including medicine, education, social aspects and driving. It is organized by the World Sleep Day Committee of the World Sleep Society and aims to lessen the burden of sleep problems on society through better prevention and management of sleep disorders.

Every year World Sleep Day is celebrated on the 15th of March. The theme of World Sleep day 2019 is ‘Healthy Sleep, Healthy Aging”. Inadequate sleep could lead to some chronic medical conditions like heart stroke, heart diseases, high blood pressure, diabetes and even weight gain.

If you are trying to lose weight, the amount of sleep you get may be as important as your diet and exercise. Though many people might ignore this fact, but sleep deprivation can lead to weight gain.

People who are sleep deprived have an increased appetite. Therefore, you should always try to sleep for at least six to eight hours a day. Not only weight loss, but adequate sleep will benefit you in many ways.

Having adequate sleep can be the ideal solution for many of our health issues. Ayurveda advocates the intake of Ashwagandha for a stress free peaceful sleep.
