Two-day meet on Advanced Materials begins at CSIR – NIIST

A two-day conference on Advanced Materials and Manufacturing Technologies (AMMT-2023) began at the National Institute for Interdisciplinary Science and Technology (NIIST), a constituent laboratory of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), at Pappanamcode here today.

Prof Indranil Manna, President, Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE) and Vice Chancellor, Birla Institute of Technology – Mesra, inaugurated the conclave. Dr C Anandharamakrishnan, Director, CSIR-NIIST, presided over the function.

In his inaugural address, Prof. Manna highlighted the significance of additive manufacturing and laser processing in realizing materials for industrial and strategic application.The souvenir of the conclave was also unveiled at the function.

Dr K Balasubramanian, Director, Non-ferrous Materials Technologies Development Centre (NFTDC), Hyderabad; Dr M Ravi, Chief Scientist, CSIR-NIIST; and Dr T P D Rajan, Senior Principal Scientist, also spoke.

The conference provides opportunities for researchers and students to present their work and to forge new collaborations among industry and academia.

The contributions of Dr S Savithri, Dr M Ravi and Dr P Sujatha Devi, who will superannuate this year from CSIR-NIIST, will be honoured at the conclave.
