The Kerala government, under its 100-day programme, handed over the lease agreement of 1.31 acres of land to IT infrastructure developer Caspian Techparks for the construction of ‘Polaris’, a new IT tower at Infopark Kochi Phase II.The lease agreement handover ceremony was held at Mascot Hotel in Thiruvananthapuram, in the presence of P.K Kunhalikutty, Minister for Industries and IT, and V. P. Sajeendran, MLA of Kunnathunad. Seeram Sambasiva Rao IAS, Special Secretary, Department of Electronics and Information Technology, was also present.IT Minister P. K. Kunhalikutty said the Kerala Government aims to transform the State into the country’s leading IT and AI hub. The new IT tower being developed by Caspian Techparks at Infopark is a significant step towards achieving this goal. The Government would extend all necessary support and cooperation to ensure the timely completion of the project, he added.The lease agreement of the land was signed by Susanth Kurunthil, Chief Executive Officer, Infopark, and Thomas Chacko, Managing Director, Caspian Techparks India Pvt Ltd.The Polaris tower will come up in the non-SEZ area of Infopark Kochi Phase II. Caspian Techparks already has two IT buildings in the non-SEZ area of the campus. Air India’s Centre of Digital Innovation operates from one of the towers, while the other houses IT companies.The project, to be developed at an investment of ₹150 crore on 1.31 acres of land, is slated for completion within three years. The 17-storey building will have a built-up area of 2.19 lakh sq. ft. and is expected to generate more than 1,500 direct employment opportunities upon completion.The Caspian team presented a detailed overview of the ‘Polaris’ project during the event. The ceremony was attended by Sandip Kumar IAS, CEO of Technopark; Rajesh Kumar M, Additional Secretary of E&IT Department & Managing Director of KITFRA; senior officials from the E&IT Department, Infopark, representatives of Caspian Techparks, and other dignitaries.Infopark officials said the project would strengthen Kochi’s IT ecosystem and attract more companies to open office spaces and Global Capability Centres [GCCs] in Kerala.Caspian Techparks is a developer of ‘Grade A’ commercial real estate and integrated IT business parks in Kerala. The company has a presence across the state’s major technology hubs, with projects at Infopark, SmartCity Kochi and Technopark Thiruvananthapuram.
