It’s always better to avoid the last-minute rush and file your IT at the earliest possible. The government via a press release dated October 24, 2020, has announced that it has extended the deadline to file ITR, for most individual taxpayers, for the financial year 2019-20 to December 31, 2020.
The Income Tax department has introduced ‘Jhatpat Processing’ for filing the income tax return (ITR). The Jhatpat Processing has already started for ITR-1 and 4 and you can file your IT Return for AY 2020-21 by visiting http://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in.
As per the IT department, over 3.69 crore Income Tax Returns for AY 2020-21 have been filed till December 20, 2020.
