Banking services may be affected October 22 ,2019 , as two bank unions- All India Bank Employees’ Association (AIBEA) and the Bank Employees Federation of India (BEFI) have called for country-wide bank strike to protest against the proposed mega bank merger plans. The State Bank of India employees are taking part only partially in the strike.
As SBI employees are not fully participating the branches of State Bank of India will remain open and functional today. The banking employees were already against the proposed bank mergers as they feel this is not the right time for a merger in the midst of economic turmoil. The strike in the banking sector is going to affect transactions badly.
