Plasma Therapy or Using the blood of recovered COVID-19 patients is not a solution for treating Covid -19 patients. According to clinical trials conducted in India, the treatment has not helped the patients to ward off the infection.
Published in the BMJ British Medical Journal, the results show that convalescent plasma, which delivers antibodies from COVID-19 survivors to infected people, failed to reduce death rates or halt progression to severe disease. The United States and India have authorized convalescent plasma for emergency use.
 âThe trial was able to show a small effect on the rate at which patients were able to rid themselves of the virus, but this was not enough to improve their recovery from the disease,â said Simon Clarke, expert cellular microbiology at the University of Reading.
The Indian researchers had tried this treatment in around 500 patients and none of them had a major improvement in getting rid of the virus. Moreover, this treatment did not help to reduce the number of deaths or didnât benefit in reducing the severity by 28 days.
